questions
Cost averaging (or dollar-cost averaging, DCA) means buying more shares of the same stock at different prices over time. Your average cost per share is the total amount invested divided by the total shares purchased.
Averaging down means buying more shares of a stock after its price has fallen, which lowers your average cost basis. For example, buying 10 shares at $100 and then 10 more at $80 gives you an average of $90/share.
Your break-even price is the price at which you would neither gain nor lose money if you sold all your shares โ it equals your average cost per share (assuming no commissions).
