Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between width and height. A 1920×1080 image has a 16:9 ratio. Maintaining the aspect ratio when resizing prevents distortion (stretching or squishing).
Enter both the width and height in the "Find Ratio" tab. The calculator divides both values by their greatest common divisor (GCD) to show the simplified ratio.
For every 16 units of width there are 9 units of height. Common ratios: 16:9 (widescreen HD/4K video), 4:3 (old TV / iPad), 1:1 (square, Instagram), 9:16 (vertical mobile video), 3:2 (DSLR photos).
